Chapter History

After Washington and Lee went co-ed in 1985, our Xi Lambda chapter of Chi Omega was the first sorority to colonize at Washington and Lee. Our chapter began in 1989, and today is home to over 110 undergrad members and has initiated over 500.

Chi Omega's early years were spent organizing and gaining members, until a second chapter was added only 3 years later. By 1905, 17 chapters had been installed. Chi Omega continued to grow and expand until today, it is the second largest national women's organization, following only the Girl Scouts.
